Description

Capture guitars, instruments, and vocals in 24-bit, 48 kHz resolution with the M-Audio Avid Recording Studio, which includes both Avid Pro Tools SE music creation software and an M-Audio Fast Track audio interface.

Avid Recording Studio turns a computer (Mac or PC) into a full-featured recording studio, hence the name. After using the Fast Track audio interface to record "better than CD quality" instruments or vocals, you can then edit and enhance your recordings in Pro Tools SE.

With the software, you can add backing tracks with loops from the software's included sound library; mix up to 24 tracks (16 audio tracks and 8 virtual instrument tracks); apply effects such as reverb, EQ, and guitar amp / distortion; complement your work with Pro Tools SE's more than 100 virtual instruments; and more. Pro Tools SE's 3 GB audio loop library covers sounds ranging from hip-hop and electronic to pop, funk, jazz, rock, and blues. Music creation templates are included as well, so that you can play along with drum grooves or add your own percussion, bass, and instrument lines.

  1. Great! Review by Anderson
    Rating

I bought this one. It's great for home studio. Fits perfectly because it has the same quality standard of the Fast Track PRO and other ones. The difference is the number of connection options of the anothers.
I haven't see significant delay in my recordings with this interface using Cubase.
    I recommend! (Posted on 4/15/11)

  2. Nice start box Review by Ben
    Rating

This little box is a great way to get started in recording for not alot of money. Add in an inexpensive large-diaphragm condenser and grab a cable and a mic stand, and you've got a very usable singer/songwriter studio for under $250. It's a very versatile little box, and the mic pre-amp sounds pretty good. It's small, so it's great to toss into my laptop bag, and it's bus-powered so all you need is a USB cable. The headphone jack mutes the monitor output, so be aware of that. It's probably not much of a limitation. The best part of the interface is the zero-latency monitoring, as you can hear exactly what you put in. There are no mix/monitor controls so you have to play a tricky game with the gain if you want to use it - just be sure not to clip!

The Pro Tools software included is pretty limited - it's a cut-down version of Pro Tools LE. You'll see little Avid/Digidesign logos all over the menu, and when you click a menu item with that logo, you'll be invited to upgrade to Pro Tools M-Powered or Pro Tools 9. Still, you can record audio tracks and create MIDI tracks with the included software instruments. (Posted on 3/4/11)
