Fixing MPC 500 Pads with Tape, Bike Rubber (Video)
Akai MPC pads are notorious for their both their extreme durability and sensitivity – but the abuse on these can add up over the years and lead to a less than responsive machine. Controllerists have been known to chop up their cheaper midi controllers and even build new casings or add button to create a one-off product, but few would be willing to take apart their prized MPC.
Servando Barreiro was ballsy enough to crack open his MPC 500 and take a look inside. After a quick examination of what needed to be fixed; a little bit of tape and bike rubber was all he needed to improve the performance his drum machine.
