Metal Label Century Media Sues 7,500 People for Allegedly Illegal Sharing Albums on BitTorrent
The battle between record label artists and their file-sharing fans continues today as a lawsuit for alleged illegal downloading of music has been served to over 7,500 people in the New Jersey area. A metal label known as Century Media Records, who collectively represents a slurry of bands, filed the suit against nameless users who had their IP’s tracked when they began illegal sharing their music.
This small suit is part of many larger suits that have been filed in the last 18 months. The record label has no real intention of litigating with these individuals, but they hope their subpoenas will cause the names of the main defendants to rise to the surface.
