Amateur and intermediate Ableton users have no shortage of questions on how to use their beloved software. Fortunately for them, experienced producers are out there putting up tutorials and going over basics that are sometimes misunderstood. AfroDJmac explores the uses of Ableton’s Gate Effects and how they can be used to clean up audio samples.
As he explains, the gate is usually set “closed” unless audio above a certain threshold is received – it then opens the gates. The gate is also closed once the audio drops too far below another threshold. Together, it provides a simple way to clean audio up over an entire sample.
