One Shot Synth Jam By Sounds In Progress
Ableton, Logic, and Pro Tools users understand the difference between triggering sections of audio and one-shot samples. Sections of audio are typically preferred and are quantized to fit within the parameters of each phrase. In this edition of synth jam, “Sounds In Progress” explores the use of “one-shot” samples in a live composition.
This duet uses live input from an electric guitar, but the rest of the audio triggering is done using smaller, simpler midi controllers. The most obvious piece that stands out is the Akai LPD8 and Korg Kaoss Pad 3. An unrecognized keyboard is also used as well.
