System 2.7: The World’s First Sample Deck DJ Controller?
Here’s an interesting set-up that was produced back in 2003, long before Serato was as widely used as it is today. A brilliant innovator created a sampling and sequencing machine using a computer, 2 monitors, and 2 old Army record players. The execution was brilliant, and allowed any onlooker to walk-up to the machine, sample a few clips of audio, and put them together as he or she saw fit.
What makes it interesting is its retro look and feel. Even thought the entire system was built using a modern computer, the monitors and record players themselves make it look like this thing was built in the 1960’s. It’s definitely a work of art.
