Aside from the typical new product offerings and prototypes shown off at DJ equipment trade shows, the bigger picture that we get from these events is the sense of where things are headed in the industry. After all, a company can produce equipment all they want, but it’s the DJ who ultimately decides what’s worth having and what missed the pitch completely.
For once, iPads are no longer just a fun toy in the DJ industry – they are beginning to be taken seriously. Controllers have reached their limits in technology and there will be no more monumental leaps forward as it is. This one actually surprised me – scratching is still king and attracts audiences who want to see what it’s all about!
