The Novation MiniNova Redefines Portable Synth Power (First Look)

You can’t really go wrong with Korg’s microKorg design.  There is simply nothing to complain about in terms of size and functionality; everything from the jogwheels to the keys are sized perfectly, and the entire synth still manages to be small and light enough to cram into a backpack.  Novation has taken these characteristics to heart, creating their own version – called the MiniNova.

It keeps the same rugged build, with pitch wheels to the left and a mounted microphone for those who want to play with the vocoder effects.  What differs from Korg’s offering is that the Mininova was designed as an entry level device, with options clearly laid out for the novice user.
