New Drum Machine For iOS, Beat machine

If you’re a musician who’s already spent almost a thousand dollars on the newest version of the iPad, you’d be a fool not to buy a couple dollars worth of music apps – just to see if you can’t get your money’s worth out of it.  There are plenty of “fun” production applications out there, like Properllerhead’s Figure, which can turn a boring 10 minutes into a small musical masterpiece session.  Others are more complex and processor heavy, like the PPG WaveGenerator app that has already received much admiration and affection.

Still, one of the most basic iPad apps there for producing music is the drum machine.  We usually see drum machines combined with a simple sequencer – and neither take much experience or knowhow to operate.  It’s obviously not going to replace a true hardware drum machine like the MPC Studio, but to create the basic skeleton of a song, a few pads and the ability to record is all you need.  Beat-Machine is a simple “retro” app for iOS that gives you 16 pads in a 4×4 layout and the ability to trim and manipulate the samples tied to them.  It also comes with a volume mixer with a few minor effects along with effects controls.  For less than a dollar, you don’t be upset if it’s not to your liking.
