KOMA Elektronik SVF-201 State Variable Filter

Although DJs have the option to add a few controllers here or there, or to remove a deck if they wanted by replacing it with a virtual deck – there really isn’t much going on in terms of modularity.  As it stands, there is no real “modular” solution for DJs, where one piece of hardware, that has one simple purpose, can be added or removed to an existing setup.

With that said, there are plenty of external controllers that can be programmed to do specific things, like the QuNeo, but nothing quite as modular as something you’d see attached to a modular synthesizer or effects setup.

Those of you that own a Eurorack already know the benefits of modularity.  In the war of synthesizers you can strap on as many extra panels as you’d like only to remove them when you find them slowing you down or getting in your way.  KOMA Elektronik, a company who hasn’t had much time in the world of modular synthesizers, has announced that they will be producing the SVF-201 State Variable Filter – which offers many ways to control effects like resonance and cutoff.  It has your typical filters (high pass, low pass), but also offers a sweep function that can instantly use more than one filter characteristic.
