Mackie DL1608 iPad Mixer

I expect to see more DJs using an iPad in conjunction with their standard DJ setup.   The beauty of the iPad is that it can be used as your main device, but if you’re hesitant to rid yourself of the standard QWERTY keyboard, the iPad can still be used as a peripheral device (as you would a laptop MIDI controller) to achieve things like external effects or sampling.  While the iPad is slimmer and light that than your average laptop, it still suffers from (and even more so) the limitations of a laptop mainly, finding a mounting solution.  Since the iPad has no vertical screen adjustment tilt on its own, it means that you’ll need another way to mount it.

Gear manufactures have been looking for ways solve the problem of mounting the iPad when it’s in use with your gear.  Numark was clever when designing the iDJ Pro, as it fully integrate the iPad in every sense of the word.

Mackie, a company that seems far removed from DJ mixers and DVS gear also has their own integrated solution called the DL1608  that combines the ability to have a full-fledged mixer with an iPad built inside.  The need for a mounting solution is thereby eliminated.
