DJ Tech DIF-1S Scratch Mixer

In the age of ever increasing costs of new DJ equipment, should we just accept the fact that new gear will always cost higher than it used to?  Today, a car that costs upwards of thirty thousand dollars used to be the car that only cost twenty thousand dollars five years ago – but we are so used to high prices that we just accept things as they are.  Gas prices are no different; but it shouldn’t be the same when it comes to producing electronic gear.  The price of production as gone down, now that we have better manufacturing techniques and access to readily available materials.  Why are DJ mixers and other related gadgets so expensive?

Maybe it’s because manufacturers can simply raise prices, and no one will complain.

Luckily, all it takes it one maverick company to change the entire scene.  DJ Tech has created a 2 channel scratch mixer that houses a state of the art crossfader, and they are selling it for less than two hundred dollars.  That seems like madness considering that an old Vestax mixer will still run you double that amount.  Maybe this is all it takes for other companies to get the hint and shape up with their prices.
