Beats Audio and the importance of brand perception
One naturally considers the brand name of an object before he or she attempts to go out and buy it at the store – but they may not be thinking the same way you’re thinking. There seems to be a counter culture within our culture of popular fads and trends; and a person may choose to ignore a potential product simply because it has been popularized. In the opposite case, which is more common, a brand might simply be ignored because it fails to have any marketing value, or because you haven’t heard about it on television. Regardless, there are products in each category that will be browsed over when in fact they might have been the only you should have taken interest in.
Beats Audio products are a good example of this phenomenon, in which a brilliantly marketed product for DJs may have no appeal for DJs simply because of its affiliation with commercial rappers and none other than the overprices Monster cables. Celebrity status has really caused a backlash in potential DJ buyers, even though the general public has in fact embraced the brand. But what do they know about DJ headphones anyways right? Maybe they just want to look the part without caring about how well it delivers.
