Best Controller For A Wedding DJ

The wedding DJ and the club DJ share very little in common, maybe only the fact that they both have the job of delivering music to the crowd.  However, the crowds that they perform to are two very different beasts.  A wedding is a ceremonious occasion, and there is a clear distiction between the time to be obnoxious and the time to keep gravity in the situation.  The wedding DJ may have the task of providing tunes for the grand entrance, and the idea of mixing is not as important as having the right songs – it isn’t until the reception that he gets a chance to more playful with his music selection.  But even at that point, mixing is not a crucial element.

The club DJ has to have good music AND have the ability to mix it in a way that makes it more enjoyable, so naturally the club DJ needs more out of his gear.  For those looking for simple controllers to merely play music in an orderly fashion, a controller with complicated FX and cross faders that cut is unnecessary.  Something like the DDJ-WeGo would be a good alternative to something more robust like the NS7 by Numark.
