Production Using Ableton Live 9
With the amount of instructional materials that can be learned on the internet, what value do everyday classroom teachers still have? I guess the two cannot be compared, since watching videos online can never compete with actually getting tested and graded in school – but as far as learning goes, if one really wanted to learn, they could. For someone learning how to use a very complex program like Ableton or Photoshop, there is no linear path to learn how to use these, and often each producer will want to learn a different subset of skills than the next. We are very lucky to have tutorials out there to teach us stuff.
If every teacher out there had the skills and time to create a video tutorial, would they turn out better than amateur videos? I wonder. See, one problem amateur video producers make is that they spend too much time going over specifics or too much time generalizing. If a video just cut out the talking and went straight into the actual lecture, it would server everyone much better. For those who picked up Ableton Push with the newest version of Ableton Live, here’s a new video tutorial that cuts through the crap.
