NOVATION MINI NOVA
Modern synthesizers, even with the amount of function they have added to them have much to keep up with – especially when compared to synthesizers built in the past. Old synthesizers were expensive, bulky, and hard to maintain; but they produced awesome sound, the type of sound that modern devices have tried to emulate. Sometimes they are successful and other times they fall short. What modern synthesizers DO celebrate, however, is their size and form. The same amount of processing power can be had in a fraction of the space and a fraction of the price. There are certain limitations that they must work around, like the apparent size differences and the missing keys on the keyboard.
The microKorg has been a treasure for many who perform live and produce at the same time. They aren’t the only contenders in this market though. Novation, who has been around for a pretty good while as well, has also transitioned from making pure synth based keyboard to MIDI controlled keyboard and MIDI controllers. Even with this transition, they haven’t forgotten about the complexities of building a good and powerful synthesizer. Their Mini Nova is the latest rendition of this philosophy and definitely looks the part as well.
