5 Music Biz Myths Debunked

Is the music industry as dirty and low as the entertainment industry?  Many will have no problem lumping them into the same category, where stereotypes remain prevalent and where image sells rather than talent.  I won’t say that the two are one in the same but they do share some similarities and differences.  One of the biggest differences is that music artists are not readily judged by their looks as much as they are their skills.  When you put the radio on you could be dead wrong about how a singer or DJ look – judging only by what you have heard with your ears.  At a certain point we could care less about their personal life or their habits, so long as their music is great.

On the other side, there have been dirty dealings in the business, and it continues today.  Many DJs are tricked out of hard earned money, or their mixes and talent has been sold away with nothing in return.  Some DJs like having the limelight, but fail to see their true worth in the grand scheme of things.  It is an ever evolving business that can kill a dream as quickly as it is built.
