10 essential rock records

Any producer or DJ who is looking to expand their thoughts and ideas about how much is made should take a look at classic rock.  It may seem odd that a rap producer or an EDM producer would want to use rock as an educational tool to produce music, but we should not forget that it was rock music that spawned a music making revolution.  Early rock and roll was seen as the devil’s music by conservatives, and it was this freedom of expression and rebelliousness that made it a great outlet for guitarists and musicians.  Even rap music was spawned from rock music, and it wasn’t until rappers starting emulating rock musicians that they were given any respect from the music community.

In the most modern types of music such as dubstep, we can find elements of rock and metal music.  The whole head-banging scene is reflected within such music that knows no bounds and dares to tip the scale between noise and music.  Listening to some old rock records can also help reveal how the genre of music has shifted and evolved; keeping itself relevant even as it fades out of popularity.  Nick has given his list of what he thinks producers should hear.
