6 Things Musicians Should Know

Some critics out there like to say that the modern education system has basically been a failure.  I wouldn’t go as far to say that we should not try to attend college or higher education, but I can see how school just isn’t what it used to be.  These days, everyone has their bachelor’s degree, and it doesn’t mean that you are a smart of qualified person either.  College used to only be for the best of the best, and now everyone gets to go to college and have second chances when they fail.  So the degree itself has been devalued to a point where these no-name colleges are handing out degrees without ever stepping foot inside of a classroom.

Online courses may very well be the end of a good education.  But even with schooling, how is that going to help you in the real world?  At school, we are forced to learn from strict standards, learning how to memorize facts and theories.  But in the real world, it is much more about solving problems than it is about knowing cold facts.  The music industry is an example where no amount of schooling will prepare you for the difficulties you face.
