Miselu Ditches Android
There is no shortage of hardware being developed to suit the iPad and other iPad users. The size of tablet means that any sort of supplemental hardware needs to match the system and layout and tablet entirely. Usually, we see gear that is either smaller than the tablet or around the same size, making it easy to integrate and store with the tablet – but today we are seeing something better than that. The Niero project aimed at installing a controller sized keyboard into the hardware of an iPad. This differs from using a controller such as the Akai LPD8, since in this case the two implements will actually become one piece.
It works by creating an integrated case for the iPad, while attaching a MIDI keyboard to the system. The benefit here is that it all wraps up into one carry along case, rather than having wires hanging outside of the system. A funny thought: this idea was originally created for Android users – meaning that it would be free to use with any tablet that runs the Android, but developers have since changed their plans and have made it for the iOS only. Perhaps they realized just how limited their sales would be given the current state of Android music.
