THE DJ EMERGENCY PACK

It seems that most DJs are quite comfortable with their own gear, and rarely would they prefer to use someone else’s gear.  It’s not that one set of turntables and a mixer are any better or worse than the next – but we are so accustomed to our layout that it really makes us think about what where are hands are going.  There are some common problems that DJs have when playing on other mixers.  Some mixers, like most of what Rane sells, has full EQ kills that are both visible and independent of each other.  This make it easy for a tablist to apply slight EQ effects without needing an FX unit.

Moving to another mixer that omit this features makes it harder for that DJ to use his same creativity.  This is only the tip of the iceberg in the realm of what can and will go wrong.  Mobile DJs often have a problem of using different cable connectors.  Some prefer to keep everything in RCA form, while others go for more professional XLRs.  The key to being a prepared DJ is just that, to be prepared.  It is better to bring a small arsenal of connectors and bit and to not need it in the end.
