BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK – Presonus AudioBox, M-Audio BX5 D2 Studio Monitors, CAD GXL3000 condenser mic, mic stand, cable, and pop filter

The AudioBox 22VSL introduces a new generation of PreSonus USB 2.0 audio/MIDI interfaces that take hardware/software integration to the logical next step. Using your computer CPU and PreSonus Virtual StudioLive™ (VSL) software, AudioBox VSL-series interfaces provide reverb and and delay effects and the same Fat Channel compression, limiting, semi-parametric EQ, and high-pass filter, as the PreSonus StudioLive™ 16.0.2 digital mixer— all with inaudible latency. Now you can monitor and record with or without real-time effects!

M-Audio BX5 D2 studio monitors

Tracking without hearing effects and signal processing is like playing a video game with your eyes closed. Musicians rely on aural cues when performing, and their performance can vary depending on what they hear in their monitors. Adding just the right amount of compression, EQ, and reverb can make a huge difference in their ability to hear themselves clearly and to experience their performance as if it occurred in a natural space rather than in the artificial sonic environment of the studio. The result is a better performance and ultimately a better recording.

The M-Audio BX studio monitor series is trusted by more musicians and recording professionals than any other. Now, the BX5 D2 monitors extend the bestsellers legacy* with an elegant new design inside and out. We leveraged technology from our high-end monitors to extend the frequency response and provide an even more natural listening experience. Custom Class A/B analog amplifiers deliver superior dynamics and tonal accuracy across the frequency spectrum while the latest-generation woven Kevlar low-frequency drivers and waveguide-loaded silk dome tweeters provide rich, defined sound. With the BX5 D2, you’ll enjoy the utmost accuracy in an engaging listening experience.

AKG C214 professional condenser microphone

AKG’s industry-leading C 414 microphones are already a permanent fixture in the world’s biggest recording studios and a highly respected work horse for independent artists, broadcasting,  and on-stage miking as well.

The new C 214 is designed as a cost-effective alternative to the high-end, industry-leading C 414 family.  It captures sound combining one side of the legendary C 414 dual-capsule system and AKG’’s patented Back-Plate Technology which results in an outstanding performance close to the famous C 414 B-XLS.

Like the C 414 models, the C 214 is capable of handling the rigors of high-pressure sound such as amplified guitars, with a sensitivity perfect for voice and orchestral instruments as well.  Additionally, the microphone offers a 20 dB Attenuation pad, 13 dB noise floor, and a low cut switch—-all in an elegant but rugged package.  Besides, the C 214 will also work on low phantom power voltages from 12 up to 48 volts.

Additional features include an integrated suspension, a double mesh grill high RF immunity without affecting acoustics. The circuitry in the C 214 provides maximum SPL capability with minimum noise and the gold-plated XLR-type output connector offers loss-free signals.

Probably a boo-boo on the product page for the last one. It says it comes with a Pro Tools MP10 upgrade, which to my knowledge doesn’t exist. This blog entry says PT MP9, which makes more sense.
