The Quality Control x Unique Squared Official SXSW Radio Edits Mixtape
The Quality Control x Unique Squared Official SXSW Radio Edits Mixtape showcases the culmination of 3 straight days of non-stop beat listening, rhyme writing, and recording by a who’s who of several of the most notable emcees that were in Austin this past March for the 25th anniversary of SXSW some of the best and most talented performers who graced the SXSW stages. Packed to the gills with gear the Unique Squared Mobile Studio is a state of the art recording studio contained within a massive 45’ tour bus. And this is where we recorded this masterpiece of a mixtape.
Many of the emcess who are on the Official SXSW Mixtape performed at various venues, then somehow squeezed in time to write and record on the tour bus (with an alloted time of about 30 minutes) and still managed to turn in great songs. To say this was a Herculean task on everyones’ part is an understatement. Auditioning, writing, and recording a brand new song within a specific time frame of 30 minutes is not for the faint at heart. But, that’s why this particular mixtape is unique. Only the truest of the true stepped in and made it happen.
Acclaimed industry engineer Fokis handled the mixing and engineering duties for the project. Tracks were blended and arranged by Presyce (three time Scribble Jam DJ Battle Champion). Featured artists appearing on the mix include Tanya Morgan, Skyzoo, Khaleel, Nick Javas and J-Live among several others. Contributing producers include California’s beatsmith Veterano, Seattle’s Jake One, Keelay (of Keelay and Zaire) in addition to noteworthy up and comers such as Tone Beatz, King I Divine, and Dynamite Brothers.
