Zoom H2N: The Future of Portable Recorders

Samson, the company that makes Zoom recorders, sent me a prototype of their new portable digital recorder the H2n. I originally wrote a blog detailing my initial impressions of the recorder before I was able to get my hands on it. Now that I have had the chance to play around with it, I must say that I am quite impressed with their new recorder.

I wrote a blog on the H2n before I got my hands on it and I had some things that I thought were lacking. For instance I did not like how there was no XLR, 1/4 inch combination input like on the H4n. My doubts were quickly erased when I used the on board mics and played around with the menu functions. The mics are great and implementing an external input would have made the recorder larger and less portable.

DubStep isn’t new anymore. Hello Moombahton…I love you

It was 2009 and I was driving down the road and I heard a song that would change my life forever.  I was listening to BBC radio 1 and Zane Lowe was hyping up his “Hottest Track in the World” as being something of the likes I had never heard before.  When he dropped the Jakwob remix of “Under the Sheets” by Ellie Goulding I literally yelled aloud at the first drop.  Musically, It was quite possibly the sickest thing I had ever heard, it was grimy and glitchy but its melodies were silky smooth yet hard hitting.

I rushed home to download (legally of course) a bunch of the dubbiest dubs I could find. At the time I was hosting a weekly radio show on WRAS Atlanta and I had to play this music on air as fast as possible.  When I went into the station for my weekly Drum and Bass show …

ID Festival @ Charlotte, NC – We’re HERE!

 Whew – WE DON’T STOP!!

Yesterday we we’re in the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte, NC for one of the stops at IDentity Festival and MAN, was it a good time. If you needed a full helpings worth of deep bass, great atmosphere, and all around goodness – then you had to look no further.
