It definitely seems like Deadmau5 (a.k.a. Joel Zimmerman) has officially gotten over dubstep. After his recent collaboration “The Veldt,” I am sure I wasn’t the only one wondering if this was a sign that the Toronto based producer was pushing away from the sound of the day. I have a great love for “Random Album Title” and have always kind of hoped he would get back to something more epic than nasty, just because “Brazil” and “I Remember” oozed epic beauty. Then he released “Professional Griefers” with My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way and things were a bit more “Sofi meet Ghosts n Stuff” so I was less sure.

However, with “There Might Be Coffee” I am starting to think that hunch is on the money. The track seems somewhat unfinished and is almost reminiscent of something …

If you, like me, own an iPad and several old synths, you have probably already run into iControlMIDI apps on the Apple Store. If you are nothing like me, you may not be aware of their decidedly niche offering. Episode two in our Mobile Studio Summerfest Sessions series brings us the Nashville based band Kink Ador. Although they are based in a town that is traditionally seen as a hub for country music, Kink Ador can be described as a rock band with an indie/alternative and often punk flair. Their sound harkens back to bands like Blondie and could even be compared to the more contemporary Yeah Yeah Yeahs. While their sound may be fun and energetic, their message is deeply thought provoking with questions about the current state of rock and roll and a proclamation to the world that we need to start living our lives to their fullest potential. The singer/bass player Sharon, guitar player Nick, and drummer Pearce all bring a sense of humor and humility to their philosophical underpinnings whether that be in their music or during the short interview we had together.…

Once again, Apple have released a new OS. Once again, it is named after a giant kitty. Once again, it is not ready for pro users to rush over and expect every little thing to go well. Once again, I find myself scratching my head and wondering how people seem to go through this every time. …
