iPhone 5: Audio Accessories Compatible; Some Require Adapters [IK, Line 6 Official Word]

Owners of the new iPhone 5 and updated iPod touch might have noticed one big change in their hardware, and it isn’t the extra screen real estate or thinner design.  Apple has finally done away with the pesky 30-pin connector that was known get gather dust in the wrong areas and being jammed in the wrong way.

Their new port, known as the Lightning port, is a smaller connection which looks easier to connect but of course, will offer compatibility issues in terms of backwards compatibility.  To IK Multimedia, this is old news.  In anticipation for the change, they have made sure that all of their iRig devices will be compatible without any additional hardware or software changes.…

Free Plugin, Melodo, Lets You Share Musical Ideas With People Around The World

VST plug-in are part of why Ableton is used as often as it is.  It easily allows you to add more virtual hardware or effects to your machine without having to buy entirely new DAWs (and having to learn how to use them properly).  A new VST plug-in, created by Comelody, has expanded on the idea of collaborative originality by allowing it’s users to share short musical phrases with other producers around the world.

This seems like a great way to get the creative juices flowing, especially when you feel like you’ve been hitting a wall with your own creations.…

A-Trak Is Going on a Tour of People’s Houses

DMC champ and label owner A-Trak has been hyping up his new tour, which is expected to hit neighborhoods around you.  Yes, I said neighborhoods.  As part of his Fool’s Gold Tour which will take place the entire month of October, he’s looking for fans to submit their house addresses as possible locations where his secret parties might go down.  This means you could have the likes of Flosstradamus and Donnis chilling in your living room.

To set it all off he’s hosting the “Day Off” party on October 7th in Los Angeles, California where he expects to host acts such as Chromeo, Cook Kids, and Congrock.…

DJ Rig for iPad Now Available

IK Multimedia has been busy producing iOS related devices, specifically for musician who are adept at using their iPad as an instrumental medium.  Their newest software, DJ Rig for iPad offers a two turntable layout that comes with the types of functionality that you’d expect with a full-sized DVS: double decks, waveform display, EQ’s with full kills, and headphone monitoring.

It’s meant to work seamlessly with their iRig Mix mobile mixer, giving you physical access to channel and cross faders.  The software also comes with a full range of added effects and a built un sampler to create beats on the fly.…

Diplo Launches Globe-Hopping Photo Zine

Diplo’s music has attracted a wild following of listeners worldwide, who dance to the tune of the same beat – Diplo’s.  It’s not surprising at all that party goers and listeners simply go dumb at his performances at his packed shows.  In celebration of his effect on his fans, he’s employed his photographer Shane McCauley to collect photos for a magazine production known as “Blow Your Head”.

In his first issue which is set to be released in October, he showcases his tour in Trenchtown, Jamaica – where locals get down to his seductive and infectious rhythms.  A limited run of this magazine is going to be sold at 96 pages per issue.…
