JVC 55″ LED 4000 BlackSapphire Preview

If you’re dealing audio or video in a production setting, having plenty of screen real estate is a bonus.  A 21.5 inch screen on the Apple iMac might be the perfect fit to view your typical DAW layout, but having little extra space means you need to minimize or move around plug-ins and settings every time you want to make an adjustment.  Having a second monitor side by side is sought after because you’re effectively doubling your space – but this also leaves you with an extra monitor that may not be useful for anything else.

A thoughtful inquiry might lead you to consider buying a larger LED Television as your secondary display; this way it can double over as your regular television screen when not in use by the computer, and it also offers you a superior amount of space.  The JVC 55” LED 4000 Black Sapphire is one …

Lil Wayne Hospitalized Again

Lil Wayne isn’t the same Lil Wayne that made his way up through Cash Money Millionaires using his strange voice and stage presence.  He’s older now.  It’s hard to see our favorite (or not so favorite) rappers as anything but the talented youth growing up in their late 20’s, but the fact is that most of these guys are nearing their 40’s, and probably have bigger responsibilities like taking care of the kids at home.  Without factoring in a hard night partying or drug usage, the stresses of bring a rapstar can take a toll on the body, which isn’t as willing to bounce back as it once was.

Lil Wayne has reportedly been hospitalized twice this last year.  Yesterday, the rapper suffered from health problems on his plane trip from Texas to Los Angeles.  It is unclear what happened, as some reported that he had seizures due to dehydration, …

Listen: Sampling Pioneer Steinski Releases Anti-Romney Track Using Samples of Mitt’s Voice

To ignore the young constituency of America would be foolish these days.  The younger generation might not be wise and set in their ways, but they do take an active role in the political process and understand what’s going on in the business of politics.  Modern presidents who make an attempt to reach out to the 30 and under Americans stand a better chance of success and unlike some of the elder voters out there – we’re willing to look at all the facts rather than blindly sticking to one side.

Another great characteristic of young voters is their ability to use creativity to speak their mind.  Musicians have been known to voice their opinions and use their star power, but musicians are taking it one step further – creating political songs.  Steinski aka. GirlTalk has released a mashup on his website illegal-art.net, which features audio clips of Mitt Romney’s …

5 Easy Steps To DJing With Live Musicians

The solo DJ gig is very effective when you think about it in a business sense.  Aside from your usual bill that have to be paid, one DJ and their music is really all the club needs to sell tickets and drinks.  Add some lighting, some effects, and you’ve got yourself a full blown club.  It’s also very one dimensional and can get old if nothing is dynamically changed about the regular routine.  A live show with musicians and a DJ is something that would be truly crowd pleasing, and your audience wouldn’t dismiss you as the jukebox either – but to pull it off there’s more to worry about.

More setup time and sound testing would be required, as well as space for other musicians and equipment; and this is assuming you know the musicians and already have good chemistry with them.  Live instruments that can be included can …

Keith McMillen QuNeo Overview

We first saw the QuNeo in 2011 when it went from a being Kickstarter project with modest ambitions, to a full blown “holy crap we raised a lot of money” project. Buoyed by enthusiasm, the prototype that could next introduced itself to us on the floor at NAMM this year, where we got to see a capable Keith McMillen rep demo the device with Ableton Live.

I know what you’re asking: what the heck is a 3D Multitouch Controller? Well, in this case, it is a very slim little control surface, not completely unlike a Novation LaunchPad. 16 square pads, two circular pads, a number of arrow buttons and a slew of slider type pads. Each different kind of pad sports a different kind of LED light for visual feedback and the majority of controls are touch sensitive. Herein lies the difference that makes it standout from the LaunchPad, …
