Analog Kick Drums With A Moog Little Phatty

The Moog Little Phatty is a beautiful piece of Moog hardware, with endless capabilities when it comes to altering the sound of your notes.  This doesn’t mean that every note that comes out of this machine has to be a tonal sound, in fact you can create pretty decent kicks and drum notes with a bit of clever manipulation of effects.

Arjen Schat shares his knowledge on the subject using a process known as subtractive synthesis.  He first starts by removing noise from a note to create a filter kick.  After that, he explores the uses of oscillation and through the same process creates an oscillation kick.
