- Show and Prove @ The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival
Last night’s festivities at Brooklyn Bowl was an exclamatory start to what has proven to be one of Brooklyn New York’s most anticipated events – The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival.
Set in a great spot complete with bowling lanes and restaurant, the ‘Super Bowl’ component to ‘Show and Prove’ was an event where even before the headliners hit the stage, the crowd was rocking and vibing to good music. These were the finals in which the contestants: Clear Soul Forces, Chris Faust and L.A. went on stage and poured out their all to compete for the opportunity to open up on the Main Stage on July 16th.
Every contestant brought their ‘A’ game but when all the smoke cleared and dust settled, the infectious and bold energy of L.A. was the night’s winner. We’ll be seeing a lot more of this …

- Artifacts – Turn It Out (prod. by King I Divine)
Following up last week’s massively well-received release, The Quality Control x Unique Squared Official SXSW Mixtape has some more in store for all the Hip hop aficionados. When you get Hip hop’s last action hero, El Da Sensei to combine once again with his partner in crime, the syllable strangler Tame One – you get an atom bomb known as Artifacts. The Artifacts were one of the true highlights of The Official SXSW Showcase at this years’ South by Southwest Festival and are now one of the highlights of the mixtape as well with their song, ‘Turn It Out’. Tame and El both take well executed swings at a track provided by up-and-comer King I Divine. The Quality Control x Unique Squared Official SXSW Radio Edits Mixtape showcases the culmination of 3 straight days of non-stop beat listening, rhyme writing, and recording by a who’s who of several of the most notable emcees that were in Austin this past March for the 25th anniversary of SXSW some of the best and most talented performers who graced the SXSW stages. Packed to the gills with gear the Unique Squared Mobile Studio is a state of the art recording studio contained within a massive 45’ tour bus. And this is where we recorded this masterpiece of a mixtape.
Many of the emcess who are on the Official SXSW Mixtape performed at various venues, then somehow squeezed in time to write and record on the tour bus (with an alloted time of about 30 minutes) and still managed to turn in great songs. To say this was a Herculean …

The project, which is now available for download on the Mobile Studio Bandcamp, boasts a who’s who of several of the most notable emcees that were in Austin this past March for the 25th anniversary of SXSW. Every song was recorded over original production on board the Unique Squared Mobile Studio; a state of the art recording studio contained within a massive 45’ tour bus.
Acclaimed industry engineer Fokis handled the mixing and engineering duties for the project. Tracks were blended and arranged by DJ Presyce (three time Scribble Jam DJ Battle Champion). Featured artists appearing on the mix include Tanya Morgan, Skewby, Khaleel, Artifacts and J-Live among several others.
