Separating the Scientific Facts from Science Fiction

When shopping for something new without any prior knowledge, there is good reason to be afraid of what the box says.  Packaging on the outside of the box is the difference between a sale and no sale, for many.  What is worse is when specs are inflated or misrepresented on the outside of the box.  Only a few type of equipment allow this to happen, and one of them is amplifiers and speakers.  Ratings for decibels or wattage don’t mean much when they don’t tell you more about it.  If you don’t bother to know that you are even more in the dark on this subject.
