It’s interesting to see how action sports have weaved their way into music videos over the past 10 years or so. Perhaps it’s the fact that artists and producers are so creative, and have other hobbies they enjoy other than creating music. Skateboarding in particular has made its appearance in hop-hop, even though it originally began as something completely unrelated to rap music. It might be hard to picture, but there was a time when skateboarding and skaters were not considered as “cool as they are today. If you had a skateboard back in the 90’s, you weren’t sitting with the cool kids at the lunch table; you were marked as some sort of outsider.
I remember seeing music videos by Pharell Williams with skateboarders appearing in the background. From then on, skateboarding is seemed to be relevant again since it had the hip-hop stamp of approval. Lil Wayne …

Chad Hugo, along with co-producer Pharrell Williams, are easily considered among the most successful producers of all time and especially within the last few decades. Blending their own musical influences with eastern sounds and a knack for pop sensibility, Hugo along with Williams have been instrumental in crafting such mega hits as “I’m a Slave 4 U” (Britney Spears), “Hot in Herre” (Nelly), and “U Don’t Have to Call” (Usher). While most of you may be familiar with Chad Hugo as one half of super producers The Neptunes and member of the group N.E.R.D., others of you may be familiar with his current DJ duo called Missile Command which includes Daniel Biltmore. What you may not know yet about Chad Hugo is that he was asked by Moog to make sounds for their new all white re-issued Slim Phatty analog synthesizers.

The IDentity Festival in our hometown! Atlanta, GA life has now been changed… for the better of course. Dee jays, producers, and all sorts of butterfly-winged, pixie dust-having, bass cone-loving kiddies came to Lakewood Amphitheatre to have a great time and hail all things bass.

ID Festival @ Charlotte, NC – We’re HERE!
Whew – WE DON’T STOP!!
Yesterday we we’re in the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Charlotte, NC for one of the stops at IDentity Festival and MAN, was it a good time. If you needed a full helpings worth of deep bass, great atmosphere, and all around goodness – then you had to look no further.

July 28th, 2011 – Unique Squared, with barely a moments rest, will be descending the Unique Squared Mobile Studio onto this years’ IDentity Festival with our very own resident dee jay, Kid Cedek. The Unique Squared Mobile Studio; a state of the art recording studio contained within a massive 45’ tour bus, will meet up with The ID Festival in select cities around the country.
