The long awaited and highly anticipated Behringer CMD controllers have finally arrived at our offices, and we got a chance to take them for a test drive. We immediately set our sights on the Behringer CMD Studio 4a as this has been the most talked about DJ controller in the line. Its a four deck DJ controller that comes with an access code to download the new DJ software from Image Line, Deckadance 2. We have reported extensively on the updates and changes to the CMD line since we first saw it back in January of 2012. You can read about the evolution of the CMD line on an earlier blog post. In addition to Deckadance, you can also use the CMD Studio 4a with other DJ softwares.

NAMM 2011 and 2012 saw the unveiling of a whole host of DJ controllers from some of the top manufacturers including Pioneer, Numark, Denon, Vestax, and even the illusive Native Instruments unveiled their Kontrol F1 at an off site location in 2012. NAMM is also the place where a lot of companies allow the public to play on their new designs in an almost faux test market to see how people react and then subsequently make a few last minute adjustments. NAMM 2013 was no exception in this regard but Numark was really the only company unveiling a high performance controller with the Numark NS7 2. Nearly every other DJ controller manufacturer was unveiling low cost, portable, and lets face it, entry level controllers this year.
