Da Beatminerz @ the UniqueSquared Mobile Studio Numark DJ Showcase during Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival 2011
This year’s Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival was one of beautiful weather, surprise musical guests, and — Da Beatminerz!
These guys all came through with one common goal, to ROCK OUT! In between the BHF Main Stage sets, Da Beatminerz would, without missing a beat (no puns), drop songs to the crowds’ delight and kept everyone entertained and having a good time. It was a sheer delight to watch a team of world renown dee jays/producers jockeying for position in an awesome display of hands, turntables, and microphones. Armed with an entire range of Numark gear at their disposal such as two TTX turntables, an X5 and M6 Mixer, and an NS6, they would hop in and out of position, back and forth, one dropping/scratching in a new song while their cohort readies the next …

Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival
With a week-long amount of art, music, and vibes, the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival culminated on Saturday with what became a truly exceptional day.
For starters, on one end of the festival grounds were graffiti writers bombing on walls, Capoeira dancers demonstrations and exhibitions, as well as up-and-coming bands amongst other attractions and activities. It really did feel like a family oriented event. Then when you get over to the other side of the festival grounds, things start to heat up.
All of this is set under the precarious and breath-taking scenery of Brooklyn’s DUMBO (Directly under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) neighborhood. We we’re stationed directly under the Brooklyn Bridge which provided both, shelter from the sun (it was a hot one) and an almost impenetrable shield from the street noise. The Quality Control x Unique Squared Official SXSW Radio Edits Mixtape showcases the culmination of 3 straight days of non-stop beat listening, rhyme writing, and recording by a who’s who of several of the most notable emcees that were in Austin this past March for the 25th anniversary of SXSW some of the best and most talented performers who graced the SXSW stages. Packed to the gills with gear the Unique Squared Mobile Studio is a state of the art recording studio contained within a massive 45’ tour bus. And this is where we recorded this masterpiece of a mixtape.
Many of the emcess who are on the Official SXSW Mixtape performed at various venues, then somehow squeezed in time to write and record on the tour bus (with an alloted time of about 30 minutes) and still managed to turn in great songs. To say this was a Herculean …

The project, which is now available for download on the Mobile Studio Bandcamp, boasts a who’s who of several of the most notable emcees that were in Austin this past March for the 25th anniversary of SXSW. Every song was recorded over original production on board the Unique Squared Mobile Studio; a state of the art recording studio contained within a massive 45’ tour bus.
Acclaimed industry engineer Fokis handled the mixing and engineering duties for the project. Tracks were blended and arranged by DJ Presyce (three time Scribble Jam DJ Battle Champion).
