Those of you who have been looking for an affordable professional CDJ you need look no further than the Denon SC2900. This multi source media player stacks up quite nicely when compared to the popular Pioneer CDJ 2000 but at a fraction of the cost. If you are familiar with the Denon SC3900 with its motorized platter, then you will be very familiar with all of the features on the SC2900. The main difference being that the platter on the SC2900 is not motorized, making it more like a traditional CDJ than a vinyl turntable. Denon is now offering a new padded carrying bag for customers who purchase any of the MC-2000 or MC-3000 midi controllers. The bag is simple enough, and features a brilliant blue padded inside, with separate compartments for both your controller and laptop.
The outside is a standard black, and the inserts will come in a variety of different colors. All in all, it works out to be a very minimal design – which is nice, considering the amount of bulky backpacks available to haul your gear around in. Denon has just introduced another all-in-one DJ controller for entry level DJs. The DJ-MC2000 controller is instantly recognizable by its shape and similarity to other top end controllers in its field. However, this one is supposedly touted for its simplistic hardware and software. The jogwheels are of good quality, and the hardware layout mimics Serato Scratch Live’s software layout – something Denon has done in the past as well. It lacks useable features like a gain controls for each channel and a VU meter but is overall easy to use.…
