HDMI 2.0 Specification Formally Announced

I just spoke about the complexities related to HDMI cables and their usage at home.  Sometimes they work they way they should – you plug them in and everything is good to go.  Other times, there are problems right out of the box that people don’t seem to understand.  The days of the lifeless RCA cable and video jack are gone – and cables are much smarter on their own.  They are so smart that they can confuse themselves as well as their owners.  HDMI 2.0 has been anticipated due to the new televisions that are set to be released soon.  But again, I can forsee many problems with their general usage.

The problems will come from the generic HDMI cable makers who do not put as much effort into designing them.  People will assume that each cable is the same, and that a cheaper cable works just as well …

MDC Custom DJ Cables

I tend to go through a lot of RCA cables on a yearly basis.  When I buy them, I never consider the fact that I’ll need them to last me a very long time.  I never pay more than a few dollars a foot for RCA cables, and if it goes bad on me I simply get another.  Most people who are on a budget would think the same way, yet the same people will splurge on a set of nice digital or coaxial cables, since there is more information riding on those lines.  I expect my HDMI cables to work flawlessly, and if they happen to break I actually get upset over it.

If I were to buy RCA cables that actually cost me a lot of money, I would probably treat them the same way.  The difference is that RCA cables get plugged and unplugged all the time.  …

Pioneer DDJ-WeGO, HDJ-500 and Neo cables

While on the subject of giving things away and getting free items as prizes, has anyone ever actually won something worthwhile?  The phrase “Many will enter, few will win” is something we hear on the radio all the time – it’s annoying.  But for those few that have won something, does that mean their luck has run out and they will never win again?  I’ve been lucky enough to win a prize or a raffle here and there, and all the times that I actually won, I never expected to or wanted to win badly.  The times I wanted to win, I naturally did not.
