Nord Drum 2 Electronic Drum Module Overview

Debuting in the Spring of 2013, the Nord Drum 2 added some interesting improvements to the already popular Nord Drum Electronic Drum Module. A little over a year after its release and a lot of people are still singing its praises. We can barely hold on to them when they come in because so many people love this little Modeling Percussion Synthesizer.

The inspiration for the Nord Drum 2 was a box that could mimic some of the drum machines of the past into a single unit. A true drum machine is nothing what we consider to be a drum machine when we shop at our local stores.  There are two main ideas of what a drum machine is, and neither of these are actually that correct.  There is a drum machine that acts as the brain of a drumset – so instead of striking percussive instruments, we can strike pads that emulation the reaction of drums.  The sound module lets us change these sounds to suit our needs.  The other type of drum machine we think of are devices like the Maschine, which do not actually produce sounds at all.  Instead, they store samples which are played when recalled.
