Mixing Techniques for DJs: 5 Creative Tempo Changes

Do you ever wonder how genres become genres?  There is no committee of people who judge the artifacts in a song, and there is never a panel of judges who vote as to what type of music the song fits under.  This is something that is done culturally, and it not always the same element in a song that determines what its genre is.  For example, dubstep is largely determined by its tempo, while something like hip-hop or funk usually does not stay around the same tempo.   For DJs who like keeping their mixes in the same zone, a steady tempo is preferred – but those whose genres do not match tempos all the time have to deal with some drastic changes.
