Humanizing presets are something we’ve seen in later editions of popular DAWs like Ableton and Reason.  The purpose is actually quite simple, although it might seem counterproductive.  Computers are great at making exact calculations, tones, and rhythms – where as people are not; but humans like to listen to music that is subject to human error.  It lets them believe that the music is real.

This was the idea behind Samplemodeling’s SWAM engine based Soprano & Bass Clarinets.  Using advanced processing, clarinets can be micro-tuned (or detuned) allowing it sound as imperfect as the real deal, especially when using techniques like crescendo and trills.…

Watch: Daft Punk Edit Junior Kimbrough Songs for Saint Laurent Fashion Show

Music from Daft Punk is as iconic as the recognizable outfit they wear during their performances.  Their guest appearance on the remake of the 1980’s movie “Tron” movie was welcomed and fitting as ever, but it doesn’t stop there.  The Duo has been working to get their music beyond audiences of EDM lovers, and in the ears of listeners at other types of venues.

Archie On The Future Of Music (Retro Futurism)

There have been many predictions about the future that range from 30 to 50 years ago.  Of course, this is not the “Duck Dodgers in the 21st Century” or the “House of Tomorrow” that was so emphasized on cartoons.  We don’t have flying cars and robots to do our dishes, but an alarming amount of predictions have come true; we can only look back and laugh.

The prediction of computers and their presence in the music making industry couldn’t have been truer.  A 1972 comic of Archie shows the teens playing with music of the future, that is, 2012.  It seems pretty spot on.…
