Akai Synthstation 49 Review

We first saw the Akai Synthstation 49 at Winter NAMM 2011 and surrounding this keyboard controller was all the buzz about the future of production and the integration of iOS devices. The public has been waiting patiently, filled with questions and anticipation for the keyboard controller that looked to take the most advantage of integrating an iPad with a keyboard controller. We were finally able to get our hands on one, play around with some different apps, and take it for a test drive when performing and using it for production. GarageBand For iOS Adds Background Recording

While iOS 6 may be giving problems to independent app developers and their cherished apps, Apple’s own software has only benefitted from the upgrade.  Revisions to stock programs have been made to increase reliability and sometimes, like in the case of GarageBand, add new features.

GarageBand 1.3 now includes a few novel features like the ability to create custom ringtones and alerts for apple devices (iPad, iPod, iPhone).  Integration between your apple devices and GarageBand have been made simpler, so sharing music libraries between the two is more streamlined.  Also, GarageBand no longer hogs your recording ability, and allows you to record in the background while using other applications.  …

Apogee MiC Overview

The Apogee MiC is a portable cardioid condenser microphone that works with iOS devices as well as Mac (and only Mac) computers. It’s incredibly easy to use, the sound quality is great, and it’s so small you could throw it into your guitar case or even in your back pocket.
