Apogee One Overview

As much as I would not like to be the old man on the porch talking about things in my day, I can’t help but express a deep emphasis on the fact that you kids today have things so much better than when I was trying to record my music. Nowhere is this more evident than with the Apogee One; a 2 in and 2 out audio interface that works exclusively with Apple computers and iOS devices. To get you recording right out of the box, Apogee provide you with a breakout cable that includes an XLR input and a 1/4 inch instrument input. There is also a high quality microphone built right into the interface so you can get ideas down anywhere and at anytime. You can also trust that the microphone will give you a quality recording if you want to use it for your final production.…

Apogee MiC Overview

In our continuing showcase of portable electronic devices from Apogee Electronics, we are looking at the Mac and iOS compatible condenser microphone dubbed Apogee MiC. MiC has all the professional sound quality you can come to expect from an Apogee product, but with a portable size and competitive price point that make it an ideal option for the guy or gal with on the go audio needs. We reviewed the Apogee MiC last year when it first arrived and not much has changed from what we saw then. As with the Apogee JAM, the only major difference on the Apogee MiC is the ability to connect it to new generation iOS devices like the iPhone 5 and the latest iPad tablet.

Although there are not any new features, there is still plenty to be excited about with this microphone. It can fit in your pocket but it also has a …

For those of you that have been holding out and waiting for the Synthstation 49, here are the things you have been waiting for:

Layout and Features

GarageBand For iOS Adds Background Recording

While iOS 6 may be giving problems to independent app developers and their cherished apps, Apple’s own software has only benefitted from the upgrade.  Revisions to stock programs have been made to increase reliability and sometimes, like in the case of GarageBand, add new features.

GarageBand 1.3 now includes a few novel features like the ability to create custom ringtones and alerts for apple devices (iPad, iPod, iPhone).  Integration between your apple devices and GarageBand have been made simpler, so sharing music libraries between the two is more streamlined.  Also, GarageBand no longer hogs your recording ability, and allows you to record in the background while using other applications.  …

Apogee MiC Review

The Apogee MiC is a portable cardioid condenser microphone that works with iOS devices as well as Mac (and only Mac) computers. It’s incredibly easy to use, the sound quality is great, and it’s so small you could throw it into your guitar case or even in your back pocket. Just like its cousin, the Apogee Jam, it has some built-in features that are very handy.  It’s got a design similar to most studio microphones but more importantly, it’s got the same heavy weight as well. It’s got a full metal casing. Unlike some of the the other iOS USB microphones out there, this mic is built to last.…
