Electronic House 2013

There are few objects that still symbolize success in this world.  I say “few” because most of us understand the imagery that comes with the territory – and many simply have the look rather than the substance.  You’ve seen those people on the streets, the ones with a nice BMW or Mercedes Benz, but how do we know how they got there?  The might own an eighty thousand dollar car, but live in an apartment that they pay rent on.  Perhaps the car isn’t even there and they are only paying the lease on it, while giving everyone the impression that they have “made it”.  This type of behavior is not limited to cars and houses, you see DJs modeling their success after the same type of imagery.

Tower speakers and speaker bars tend to get the bulk of the attention when it comes to hot items in the home theatre world.  Subwoofers on the other hand usually stay hidden; tucked in the corner of some room where nobody can find them.  However, Funk Audio has been working on a line subwoofer that claims to offer class and style, as well as performance.

While serious sound and high SPL require PA system, speakers, and amplifiers, home audio systems tend to focus more on sound quality by use of a decent 5.1 receiver, capable of delivering true surround sound.  $1000 doesn’t seem like much to work with, for any type of audio system – but audioholics has laid down their best picks for building a budget home theatre system that’s capable of holding its own with the top contenders.

For speakers, they’ve chosen the Energy Take Classic 5.1 Speaker Package, with smaller satellite speakers to easily blend into any room.  Add to that a Yamaha RX-V473 surround sound receiver, and all that’s left are some decent peripherals and a stable power source.…

Samsung HW-E550 Convertible Wireless Sound Bar Review

Samsung’s HW-E550 Convertible Wireless Sound Bar offers home-theater-like sound without the need for five or more separately mounted speakers.  The compact design features 3-way sound bars and a wired subwoofer that work in conjunction with Samsung’s 3D sound imaging technology.  The range of connectivity might be limited by the subwoofer’s placement, but the speakers make up for it by having ample wireless connectivity options. …
