It is hard for someone like me to see how using a phone or tablet could be useful in terms of DJing. I get that the screen is small and that you can basically edit a song on the go using a portable track – but I don’t get why it seems so necessary to have a trinket for just about everything DJ related. If someone were to come out with a DJ watch that ran off of a Samsung watch or something even smaller, my line of reasoning would be justified. While I don’t agree that it can be useful for DJing music, I do see how it can be useful for editing small bits when you are on the go.
A DJ can spend just as much time editing tracks and arranging lists as they can actually playing the songs that are on them. So, if you are …

The reason why Traktor will slowly gain more popularity than the rest of the DVS programs out there is because they have attempted to reach more than just the typical DJ audience. DJs already have their specific needs. If they started out using turntables then they are more likely to keep using them. Conversely, if that DJ start out by programming songs on their Laptop, then a DVS might be too much of an overkill. The Kontrol and Traktor series of products was designed for the absolute beginner and the experienced veteran. The Traktor DJ app is direct proof of what it has come to.

The most obvious reason has to do with weight and bulk – as I don’t want to carry around more junk than I need to. For example, a digital book would weight substantially less than the actual textbook and it would probably cost less too. Who wants to lug that thing around? As far as DJing is concerned, sometimes the less is more approach is better. When you need to setup quickly and do not want to have a gigantic coffin dragged inside of the room, a backpack may be more suitable.
A soundcard to use for a DVS is not that heavy or bulky, but it does require more wiring and a longer setup time than a turntable or a digital deck. The goal with …

If you’re looking for an application to DJ with using your iPod or iPhone, you will suffer from fact that there are too many apps to choose from. There is no limit to what can be created for the iOS, and it almost always means that there will be some friendly competition among app developers. This is pleasant news for DJs who are looking for a nifty little app for their mobile devices – if that is your thing. Djay’s Algorridm software has already won the hearts and minds of many iOS users who have wanted to try something new on for size, and now MixVibes has introduced their own mobile DJing software setup.
It’s called Cross DJ (not sure why they chose to name it that) and it’s available now. Like any iPod or mobile app, it has to make clever use of what little space it has available …
