Pioneer DDJ-WeGO 3 Preview

The popular Pioneer DDJ-WeGO has arrived at its third iteration with the aptly dubbed DDJ-WeGO 3. This two deck DJ controller is best met with an iPad and the Algoriddim djay2 app, but it can also be used with Mac or PC to control Virtual DJ, Serato DJ, or Traktor Pro 2. Serato DJ and Virtual DJ should work out of the box, but Traktor Pro 2 will require you to download or create your own TSI mapping file. You can also connect the DDJ-WeGO 3 to your iPhone or iPod touch. You can load tracks into the app via your iTunes Library or, as Pioneer’s website notes, you can load tracks via your Spotify account. This is mostly an entry level controller and more advanced DJs might find this a bit limiting for certain gigs. This might serve better as a mobile solution for smaller gigs, but it is …

Apogee JAM Overview

Don Spacht from Apogee Electronics stopped by to show off Apogee’s line of portable recording devices and interfaces. The first in a series of Apogee videos with Don Spacht is an overview of the Apogee JAM. The Apogee JAM is a portable guitar and instrument interface that works with iOS devices as well as Apple computers. I will go ahead and put to rest any inevitable questions about Linux, Windows, Android, etc. compatibility and say that these devices work exclusively with Apple products and operating systems. While those that do not use Apple products will find this disappointing, those that do will find that the quality with which these devices are built and the quality of sound you can achieve with them is quite impressive considering their low cost and portability.

We reviewed the Apogee JAM when it was first released and since then there has been only one …

Apogee Jam Guitar Interface Review

When the call came down the pipeline that we were going to have to review another iPad/iOS guitar interface I would be a liar if I said that I was completely and utterly excited to get started on the project.  Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with iOS devices and most of them are actually pretty cool but I work at a pro audio company and am constantly surrounded with gear that is absolutely mind blowing and reviewing something built for standard consumers can sometimes feel a bit pedestrian.  When I heard that the device was made by Apogee my interest was sparked.  If you don’t know about Apogee then its time for you to crawl out of the rock you’ve been living under and get with the program because they make the best A/D and D/A converters on the market.  (A/D means Analogue to Digital, D/A is the …
