ReLoop Terminal Mix 4 – First Look at NAMM

Digital DJs have to be loving life these days. There are so many options for programs and control surfaces to choose from and the market seemingly rises to meet every implant with one device or another.

While there are a number of well loved programs out there, it does tend to be that the names most often dropped are Ableton, Traktor and Serato. The three programs really do cover the needs of more than one type of DJ, with general consensus being that Ableton is the province of the technical and control freak oriented, with Traktor there for the technical DJ who wants to be a little more flexible and Serato there for the guys who just wanna use digital but keep things simple. Some users might disagree with this take on things and I want to highlight that my hierarchy here does not imply anything being better than the …

Novation Makes Me “TWITCH” Review

As we learned months ago Novation was releasing a highly anticipated “controllerism” inspired Serato Itch controller.  Many of us saw the initial video and marveled at it’s unique layout and advanced functionality.  We finally got one in which magically coincided with Serato’s release of Itch 2.0.  We agreed that the Twitch merited some additional footage and documented it’s arrival and first impressions before we really got into the nitty gritty.  Here is what transpired.

First Impressions

The Twitch is a smaller controller compared to the usual suspects that occupy the market which I see as an advantage considering this is a niche product that probably won’t become standard in every nightclub or venue.  The layout is a little different, too.  The “juicy” area consists of 8 small pads on the lower left and right of the controller that trigger 4 performance modes. Above those is the Performance Mode selector buttons …

Numark NS6 Overview

We unveiled this much anticipated controller with Mike Hoska at the Winter Music Conference in Miami earlier this year and we were very excited to test it out ourselves.  The NS6 will arguably be the best selling Serato Itch controller this year.  I’ve had more questions asked to me about this controller than any other controller we have in stock put together.  Why?  It’s quite simple.

The Numark NS6 is:

  • A 4 Deck Serato Itch controller with a versatile layout
  • A 4 channel metal chassis stand alone DJ mixer
  • A turntablist’s dream with ultra sensitive, highly accurate, weighted jog wheels
  • A remixer’s dream with 12 high quality effects and 5 responsive hot cues
  • A 24-bit audio interface with balanced XLR outputs and dedicated booth outputs
  • Priced under $1000

We know there are many questions yet to come about this amazing controller especially after it’s release in June.  Please feel free …

DJ Life And Timeslots: Danny M Takes The NS6 To The Streets

It’s good in Atlanta, especially for the busiest DJ in town, Danny M.  We invited Danny to the studio to test drive the yet unreleased Numark NS6 DJ Controller.  We captured some footage of his in-studio session, and then he brought it out to the Koo Koo Room in midtown ATL for one of his many prime time gigs.

Danny M is one of the most sought after DJs in Atlanta.  His background is from the underground dance music scene. His meticulous, technical style of mixing allows him to be very versatile in the more mainstream high energy nightclubs throughout the city. It is easy to become a fan after watching him work the crowd, create live remixes, while dancing in and out of musical genres effortlessly. All the while keeping a Moscow Mule close for good measure.  Danny M is a DJ’s DJ and a true professional who …
