In promotion for the upcoming music documentary, DEMOS: An Independent Artist’s Guide To Success, we hosted a contest for independent artists to submit their “demo” for a chance to have their music included in our upcoming promotional mixtapes. Over 150 submissions were received and 36 artists won a spot. In addition, one track in particular won us over so much that we asked to have that song be included in the film’s official soundtrack (due later this year). Congratulations to Jacy Elizabeth for winning us over!

Please Listen To My DEMOS Mixtape Contest Winners are announced!

The winners to Kevin Nottingham’s ‘Please Listen To My Demos Mixtape Contest‘ have now been announced!

DEMOS is a documentary film intended to educate and inspire emerging music artists by providing insight on ways to establish and further their careers. Narrated by Grammy award-winning hip hop poet J Ivy, DEMOS features an eclectic mix of industry veterans, established artists such as Talib Kweli, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, DJ Quik, Naughty by Nature, Mac 10, Marley Marl, Rapper Big Pooh, Da Beatminerz, Jean Grae, Statik Selektah, DJ Rhettmatic, Shyheim, Dwele, and up-and-coming artists like Mac Miller, J Davey, Wax, and Dumbfoundead.

With 150+ entries, submissions were broken down to 36 demos that were deemed good enough to make it on the mixtape.  The 36 will be split into two volumes, with …
