The Lstand 360 Ultra DJ Stand

Laptop stands for DJs aren’t going out of style soon, even with the excessive amounts of controller users out there who don’t need one.  There are only really two types of stands out there – there are the ones that work and the ones that do not work.  More than a few DJs have actually gone with the cheaper version of a stand and have eventually regretted it.  If the stand is at all wobbly or unsecure, then it is a no go for an expensive laptop that is resting on it.  Crane seem to have cornered the market with their high priced, but extremely well made Crane stands.

They even went so far as to revise it a few time to make it that much better.   Unfortunately, the cost of it has not gone down, and even the cheapest crane stand is still more expensive than the best …

Crane Stand Elite hits Kickstarter

When I think of the company that creates Crane Stands and what they have become today – I am impressed by the amount of branding they have done to sustain their image.  Unlike other stand companies like Odyssey, Crane only makes laptop stands.  Not only do they only make one product, they do a very good job at making only one product.  They came from a group of musicians to a full fledged company that is hard to not take seriously.  Their products are by no means cheap (in price or in build) – but many of us are willing to pay that premium since so much rests on its performance.

A laptop stand might seem like a silly thing to spend money on, but it is sort of like bullets for a gun.  You wouldn’t put cheap bullets in an expensive gun and risk destroying, and you wouldn’t rest …

Magma Laptop Stand 2.1

Laptop stands aren’t anything mind-blowing or exciting to talk about, since all they do is sit there and hopefully do their job.  Just a couple of years ago, these stands really came in two flavors.  There was one that worked well, and one that barely got the job done.  Crane was, without a doubt, the king of the laptop stand, and owning a Crane stand meant that you were serious about your gear.  If you really think about it, the laptop stand is the last line of defense before your laptop falls and suffers a serious concussion. Today, there are other choices which have been developed from earlier failures.

Laptop stands have a significant problem that is undeniable.  They are lightweight, but they have to hold weight near the top of the stand.  It’s like having a 20 pound head and 1 pound feet.  The wobble is something that is …

UDG Introduces Creator Laptop Stand

There is a small market for laptop stands, but that market isn’t getting any larger.  It is not something that needs to be bought over and over, and once a DJ finds what he likes, there isn’t a reason to go out and buy a new one.  It’s not the same as a mixer or digital deck, where a DJ afford to buy something he likes and maybe trade up in the future when it is time to move to the next level.  A stand is something you only want to buy once.  It should work the first time and then you won’t have to deal with ever again, assuming it doesn’t fail.

Crane is probably the most well known for laptop stands, and they have built some pretty good creations.  They have skipped the low ball route and went straight for the high strength materials that are suited to …

Sanus Debutes New iPad Mounts

Furniture for your audio gear is a choice that can be very subjective from one musician to the next.  There are many that will put desks and stands on the bottom of their list, seeing it as something that isn’t necessary to perform with.  Others will spend a great deal of money on their furniture, even more than the cost of their electronic gear.  Those who are on a budget, which is most of us, will try to find a medium between using a fold up table and buying a custom made wood rack with inserts for your decks.

Although we can get away with a cheap fold up table, and even put up with some of its problems (like wobbly table legs), many of us will have a hard time finding ways to mount a laptop or tablet without buying the proper accessories.  Simply resting your tablet on top …
