The Can You Dig It? Remix Contest: And The Winner Is…

CONGRATULATIONS TO DUKES GO UP!!

On behalf of Coalmine Records & UniqueSquared.com, we are pleased to announce Dukes Go Up (reppin PA) as the official winner of the Can You Dig It? Remix Contest. The judging panel consisted of El Da Sensei, The Returners, Bekay, and representatives from Unique Squared. Out of countless submissions in a contest that yielded over 500 DOWNLOADS, it was Dukes Go UP sample chop, use of neck snapping drums and incredible attention to detail that put his remix over the top for him to be crowned the winner. The Rising SXSW 2011 Showcase| Unique Squared Mobile Studio

Unique Squared, along with DJ Booth.net, 2DopeBoyz, and Last Rights, sponsored a great event at SXSW 2011 at the Dizzy Rooster called, ‘The Rising’. Heavy hitters like El Da Sensei, Big K.R.I.T., and Freeway made this a show to remember. Along with hot up-and-comers J. Nics and Skewby, plus dj sets from Meka as well as M-Phazes himself, the showcase did NOT disappoint.

Official SXSW 2011 Showcase | Unique Squared Mobile Studio

The Unique Squared Mobile Team definitely kicked things off at this years’ South By Southwest Festivities in a big way. During the first day of the festivals’ music component, Quality Control along with Unique Squared and Rappers I Know presented an Official SXSW Showcase featuring DJ Premier, Artifacts, and 1982 (Statik Selektah & Termanology) among many, many others.

SXSW 2011 Beat-B-Q with Numark, M-Phazes and DJ KAOS | Unique Squared Mobile Studio

Among the many SXSW 2011 events that the Unique Squared Mobile Studio was associated with, one of the more anticipated ones was the ‘Live @ The Beat-B-Que’ Event with M-Phazes and DJ KAOS. Of course when you offer Barbecue foods, soda, and beats by some of the worlds’ best, you’ll get some stellar results.

The man of the hour was Australia’s number one Hip hop export, M-Phazes. Having worked with the likes of Pharoahe Monch, Talib Kweli and Slaughterhouse, Phazes has been building a deep repetoire and even deeper fans. During the event M-Phazes chopped it up with fans at the event and online, knocked back a few burgers, and still was gracious enough to throw down a dee jay set.

And not to be outdone, DJ KAOS came in and continued to carry on the vibe Phazes had set earlier with nothing but classic Hip hop …

SXSW 2011 Wrap Up | Unique Squared Mobile Studio

With all of our gear packed up, screws and bolts tightened, and a full tank of gas (and some refilling along the way), the Unique Squared Mobile Studio team headed out to SXSW 2011 ready to have a blast. From official showcases to barbecues and non-stop recording sessions, the time we spent in Austin, TX for this years’ South By Southwest festivities were awesome.

We had everyone from Skewby to Skyzoo and J. Nics to Nick Javas come through and drop some gems for us. The days and nights proved to be long and fruitful as word started to spread about the ‘recording studio that’s a bus’.

With so many artists steadily hearing about the bus, we had to throw things into full gear and run a beat-listening, syllable-writing, rhyme-spitting factory. In the end, it did make for some great music and footage.
