As much as I would not like to be the old man on the porch talking about things in my day, I can’t help but express a deep emphasis on the fact that you kids today have things so much better than when I was trying to record my music. Nowhere is this more evident than with the Apogee One; a 2 in and 2 out audio interface that works exclusively with Apple computers and iOS devices. To get you recording right out of the box, Apogee provide you with a breakout cable that includes an XLR input and a 1/4 inch instrument input. There is also a high quality microphone built right into the interface so you can get ideas down anywhere and at anytime. You can also trust that the microphone will give you a quality recording if you want to use it for your final production.…

In our continuing showcase of portable electronic devices from Apogee Electronics, we are looking at the Mac and iOS compatible condenser microphone dubbed Apogee MiC. MiC has all the professional sound quality you can come to expect from an Apogee product, but with a portable size and competitive price point that make it an ideal option for the guy or gal with on the go audio needs. We reviewed the Apogee MiC last year when it first arrived and not much has changed from what we saw then. As with the Apogee JAM, the only major difference on the Apogee MiC is the ability to connect it to new generation iOS devices like the iPhone 5 and the latest iPad tablet.

Don Spacht from Apogee Electronics stopped by to show off Apogee’s line of portable recording devices and interfaces. The first in a series of Apogee videos with Don Spacht is an overview of the Apogee JAM. The Apogee JAM is a portable guitar and instrument interface that works with iOS devices as well as Apple computers. I will go ahead and put to rest any inevitable questions about Linux, Windows, Android, etc. compatibility and say that these devices work exclusively with Apple products and operating systems. While those that do not use Apple products will find this disappointing, those that do will find that the quality with which these devices are built and the quality of sound you can achieve with them is quite impressive considering their low cost and portability.
We reviewed the Apogee JAM when it was first released and since then there has been only one …

The Apogee Quartet is a 4 in and 6 out audio interface built specifically for Mac computers and even works on your iOS devices like your iPad and iPhone. While the Quartet does have a large price tag, you are getting a lot of features that go beyond just a standard audio interface. Instead of just showing you all the Quartet has to offer, we decided to take it to Parhelion studios, put it in the hands of avid Apogee user Miles Walker, and give it a test drive. He not only takes us through the features in the video but also demos the sound of the mic preamps as well as the iOS connectivity.
Miles Walker is a music producer and engineer based out of Atlanta, GA. His work can be heard on the records for mega hit makers like Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Wiz Khalifa. If you want to …
