Guitar companies rarely cross the line and make DJ products – and I question the reasoning behind this non-move. The same machines and materials that make up a guitar pedal could just as easily be used to make MIDI controller boxes and other relevant hardware. But you’ll never see a Vox controller or mixer for sale. I think it is not a matter of logistic or supply, but more about company image and dedication. Guitarists and DJs have different roles and fundamentally do not exist in the same sphere. DJs play back music and remix it live, while a guitarist creates music live using strings and vibrations.
Perhaps these guitar companies don’t want to be seen as traitors to their own kind. Perhaps they will lose credibility if they were ever to cross that boundary and begin making things they aren’t supposed to. It’s a shame because there is nothing …
