UniqueSquared Artist, Kid Cedek is hosting a remix contest for one of his tracks, “Sientelo.” The prize for the remix contest is getting it released on the Rot10 Musik label, Beatport, iTunes and more. There is no specific closing date for the contest, but it will end as soon as Kid Cedek hits 2,500 total fans on his Facebook Page.

To get the remix parts you have to ‘Like’ DJ Kid Cedek on Facebook then ‘Allow’ the Fanbridge app which will then require you to submit your email address.

This week’s artist spotlight is on the fireball from the DMV, Kid Cedek. His meteoric rise to predominance is a result of relentless gigging, releasing numerous remixes and original productions, and flawless marketing and branding. We can all learn something from the manner in which Kid Cedek, aka Merchicedek Reyes, is taking his career to the next level. It’s one thing to be focused on your career in every action, and in every detail of your every day routine, but it is also paramount to challenge yourself, expand your abilities, and constantly hone your craft. This defines Kid Cedek and it truly shows in his music and his live performance. It really helps that he’s a pretty nice guy too.

It’s safe to say that modern dance music is very diverse these days. There are many great tracks released every week that DJs are quick to discover and download so that they can keep their sets fresh and their dance floor moving. No matter what style of music one plays it’s often times a rigorous labor of love to to listen and review each new track to determine which ones will make the cut. I really don’t complain too much about the process because I love it, and it’s much easier these days with the “interweb” at our fingertips to simplify the whole process.

It was 2009 and I was driving down the road and I heard a song that would change my life forever. I was listening to BBC radio 1 and Zane Lowe was hyping up his “Hottest Track in the World” as being something of the likes I had never heard before. When he dropped the Jakwob remix of “Under the Sheets” by Ellie Goulding I literally yelled aloud at the first drop. Musically, It was quite possibly the sickest thing I had ever heard, it was grimy and glitchy but its melodies were silky smooth yet hard hitting.
