Animal Collective Announce New Single They’ll also perform on “Conan” and “Fallon”

Animal Collective is one of the few underground groups that rarely get the publicity they deserve.  Etherea was responsible for using Animal Collective samples to create their own version of the song “College”, but nonetheless put Animal Collective on the roadmap.

Their signature vocals seem to remind us of the style that was put forth by the Beach Boys, with soulful and heartfelt content throughout.  Their newest singles are sure to become wildly well known, at least for those that are listening, as they grace the late night talk show scene.  Conan and Jimmy Fallon will both have them on their shows to perform.…

Video: Flying Lotus: “Putty Boy Strut”

Flying Lotus’s music is not to be outdone by its music videos.  That’s what we’d like to think.  When Flylo isn’t hard at work creating new and unique tunes for loyal fans and bumpers on Adult Swim, he’s probably busy working with other artists, known and unknown, to create collaborative music that has never been heard before.

His new music video is certainly something unique and artistic that hasn’t been seen since the likes of the Gorillaz and their “Feel Good” music video.  Animation and production was provided through Cyriak Harris for his single “Putty Boy Strut”, and includes robotic machines and living LED lights.…

Listen to the xx Live in Concert With the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra

In the wake of the UK’s economic recession, budget cuts led to the slashing of certain positions at the BBC which included BBC radio positions and other programming jobs as well.  Luckily, they have not lost their heads or their ability to put together great musical productions.

The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra performed a special collaboration with their arrangement of tracks from “The xx” and “Coexist”.  The cover featured the use of synthesizers, guitars, drums, and pretty much every artifact of the philharmonic orchestra itself – and it took place in the seaside resort of Bridlington in East Yorkshire, New England.…

Moog Music Announces Halloween Theremin Video Contest

Musical equipment companies have been doing right by their patrons, by offering contests and chances to show off creative talent in exchange for awards and respect.  Long time contender, Moog, has recently announced that it will be hold a competition for this Halloween holiday – hoping to see who can embody the spirit of the season the best.

The rules are that a Theremin must be used to create a ghastly and ghoulish performance, while recording on camera.  Contestants are encouraged to dress up and do their best to show off their love of the season.  The winner will receive a Minitaur Analog Bass Synthesizer.…
